Note: It can be helpful, when first practicing a rhythm with a sound file, to slow it down. I'm not sure how this can be done in Windows, or on a Mac with the latest QuickTime. But the old Mac QuickTime Player 7 comes with full sound controls, including the ability to slow down music without changing pitch. It is available at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923.
